It’s time for a zone serving volleyball drill! Zone serving is very important skill in volleyball. It’s a good way to see the court and rack up those aces. Plus, it’s another way for the coach to call plays from the bench. Every volleyball coach LOVES a player who can place her serve anywhere on the court. Here’s how it goes.
1. Put 1/2 the girls on each side.
2. Side 1 serves Zones 2, 3, 4. (That’s right front, middle front and left front, respectively)
3. Side 2 serves Zones 1 and 5. (That’s right back and left back). We leave out middle back for 2 reasons: 1) Most of the time a passer will be standing there (probably a pretty good one). 2) It’s an easy serve.
4. Spend 5 minutes hitting the boxes, chairs or any object or person you can find to put in the zones.
5. Then switch.
6. The end.
