Hi. My husband and I started this site for a coaching convenience. I’m the writer and he’s the content-getter. But we share responsibilities (because that’s what married folks do!).

But, you’re probably wondering about our qualifications.

So, here’s me:

Yes. It’s my wedding picture. I figured because it’s my site, I can put whatever picture I want. And this one happened to be handy.

But, am I any good at volleyball? I’ve played volleyball competitively and recreationally. A little more of the latter in my ripe old age. I played all through middle school and high school, including back to back 6A state championships my Junior and Senior years (Go Eagles!). Plus I played volleyball in college. Two colleges. A Junior College and a Division I University.

After that, I started coaching club volleyball and have been for about 9 years. I also coached a little high school volleyball with an (all star) freshman team. It was great! In the (club) off season, I beat up on (provide private lessons and support for) my husband’s high school team.

But mostly, I like to play volleyball. I use my own tips when I play and sometimes I’ll share my knowledge with the people on my team. What? They like it.

Which brings me to Donnie (my husband):

I know what you’re thinking. “That looks like a school photo.” Well… it is. Donnie is a teacher (and a coach).

Donnie is a natural athlete (which is a humble way of saying he’s good at everything). He started out playing basketball and for many years, it was his love. But, he’d always been curious about volleyball and used to practice with his high school volleyball team. At the time, there were no boys’ club teams. Basketball took Donnie all through college. In fact, he was big time. He was a top recruit out of high school and went to play basketball for a Division I school. After graduation, he aspired to become a basketball coach. He coached high school and college basketball for a few years on the West Coast and in the Midwest. But enough about basketball, this is a volleyball website.

Donnie started coaching high school volleyball few years ago. At the time, the varsity team was at the bottom of their league. 2009 State Champions! As you can see in the posts, Donnie was also named “All-Metro Coach of Year”!

In 2010, Donnie’s team had a winning season but lost in a very tough sub state (it happens). That didn’t stop a few of the girls from making all league, all state and more. Good job girls.

It looks like the 2011 club season is going to be busy. With 2 teams to coach (13s and 15s) and a club (Wichita Xpress) to manage. Donnie has his hands full. Here’s looking forward to a great season!

Ok, but, why did we start this site?
We’re good samaritans! But, seriously. When we both started coaching, we realized there was almost no good (free) volleyball coaching resources out there. So, in a way, we are good samaritans.

This is only the beginning! We’re constantly trying to think of more drills and better ways to get them to you. If you have any ideas, let us know. Comment below.
